Yaewol
Yaewol is essentially a Korean Culture Preservation Society, that aims to keep the aspect of Korean culture that is forgotten or not acknowledged in modern times, such as our traditional houses, clothing, and other accessories. We have worked with them twice now collaborating on two projects, both of them striving to combine our goal which is to reduce environmental waste and promote healthy and equal living with their mission statement which is to ultimately remind the public of the beauty of the traditional Korean culture.
So, for our project, we designed and made different clothes and small accessories such as pouches, seat covers, small bags, and pillowcases and then eventually sold them in a bizarre where the Korean public had the chance to buy them. All of the items that we sold were upcycled hanboks, which is the traditional Korean attire worn in the olden days, and now are only worn during special events such as New Years, and weddings. and all of the funds and proceeds we collected were donated straight to small business owners who sell products that are related to traditioaln Korean culture are struggling especially during these COVID-19 times
