The thing about mirrorsMany people say mirrors reflect our true selves, which inspired my artwork. The sink and the bathroom mirror represent expectation vs. reality, respectively. The bathroom sink symbolizes our sugarcoated world where everything seems unharmed and working in perfect harmony, and it is not until one looks into the mirror that they can see the true story behind our Earth. It shows that we must all come together as a united front and help fight climate change, and enact positive change. | Ocean cityWhat would a future city look like to you? Somewhere in space? In a flying castle that traveled around the world? Inside Earth’s core? I thought about a place I would like to live in and decided to show a city in the ocean. I drew a traveling octopus-shaped main building with tentacles as tunnels and air ducts for the citizens to get to their homes. The houses are shaped like pods and they represent the suctions on each of the octopuses tentacles and also act like one too. | Emotion uploadMany people say that AI or robots are humanity’s future. Through this artwork, I wanted to demonstrate the hopes for AI in the future. Not only does having robots help humans to advance in technology and develop scientific breakthroughs but also be a companion for humans. This robot that I have drawn has been designed to feel emotions and this piece shows the uploading process of the emotions to the robot’s software. | FashionistaThis digital artwork is an addition to my original French bulldog piece. It shows my drawing in an animation character form and I was going for a chic, fashionista vibe because when I was younger I also had a French bulldog and I tried to emulate his personality through this artwork. |

RomeoThis is the original drawing from the previous animation. This was actually my first ever serious piece of artwork that I did. It is a portrait of my French bulldog named Romeo because he was the most loving and charismatic dog I had ever seen. I wanted to capture his essence through this art and be a reminder for me of him. | A place in my dreamsThe theme of this piece is a journey in my dreams. I wanted to imagine a place I would love to go to. Most people might think of a place like Paris or the Maldives or the United States, but I chose a place from my dreams. An actual place that I made in my dream whilst I was sleeping. I was transported to a magical tree surrounded by pathways of rare rivers, and on the trees intertwined with the branches were doors that were portals to different worlds. I remember spending my entire dream going t | Life below waterFor this piece, I decided to draw a life imitation of a fish. I choose the Triggerfish because it is a type of fish I see a lot when I used to go snorkeling in Australia when I was living there. I did lots of research about the fish and tried to portray them on paper, but with a symbolistic approach. This artwork also represents animals cruelty through a subtle hand grabbing the fish, preventing it from swimming away. | The paint tube squeezer (observation drawing)Sometimes during class, my teachers would assign me moe difficulty-level objects to recreate on paper. This time they gave me a large metal thing which I later found out was a paint tube squeezer used to push the paint out of stiff tubes. It was really difficult at first because it had many parts to it, but in the end, it became one of my best and favorite observation drawings to this day. |
The paintbrush (observation drawing) | The paintbrush : collage (observation drawing)Similar to the previous drawing of the kid’s play paintbrush, instead of using black pens and markers, we used a mixture of different paper and designs to create a collage version of our drawings. It was a way to make the artwork seem completely different whilst still being the same. |
